New yoga class schedule, starting September 2015

sampoorna-yoga-03-FRONT-SITEAs from Thursday 3 September onwards classes start again at the EU Council sports center (yoga circle – cercle de yoga). For those of you that have the badge to access the facilities, please join the class at 18:30. It’s a 90-minute all levels hatha yoga class.

After many years of teaching on Sunday afternoon, I wanted my Sunday back for “me” time: to do own yoga practice and relaxation. Hence from 19 September 2015 onwards I’ll teach the 10 AM class (parallel to the kids yoga class downstairs). It’s a 60-minute all levels hatha yoga class at Sampoorna Yoga Studio in the center of Brussels.

I hope to see you regularly 🙂

Yoga in the park – Jette

RamdasMy friend and fellow yoga teacher Ramdas (known from Sampoorna) will teach the first class in a series of 3, this Sunday 30 August in the Roi Baudoin park in Jette (Brussels). Join his hatha yoga class (suitable for all levels) at 12:30 PM (until 1:45PM). Bring your own yoga mat or towel and enjoy the sun on your face while you practice.

Vegan treat: nice cream

Ooooh how I sometimes crave ice cream! As a vegan it’s not always easy to find ice cream, as most ice creams are made of cow’s milk cream…

Hence my huge happy surprise when I discovered nice cream! Ice made of frozen bananas! It’s super easy, healthy and cheap. Often you might not know what to do with overripe bananas, so from now on, trust me, you’ll simply make nice cream out of them.

Preparation

  1. Peel, slice and freeze a very ripe banana/ some bananas.
  2. Mix the frozen banana(s) in a blender or using a handheld blender or a kitchen machine.

 
 
 

Variations

BananasFrom here you vary according to your desires and the available ingredients. Some examples:

  • Chocolate nice cream: blend in 1-2 tbsp of cocoa powder & some small pieces of black chocolate.
  • Raspberry nice cream: blend in a handful of (frozen) raspberries.
  • Blueberry nice cream: blend in a handful of (frozen) blueberries.
  • Bounty nice cream: blend in 1-2 tbsp of cocoa powder,1-2 tbsp of grated coconut and 2 tbsp of coconut milk or cream.
  • Acai bowl: add 1-2 tbsp of acai powder to your nice cream, blend. Add toppings such as granola, blueberries, goji berries, banana, coconut shavings, chocolate sprinkles, …
  • Peanut butter nice cream: blend in 2 tbsp of peanut butter and some nuts of your choice.

Order your vegan vitamin B12 via Ambika

If you interested in your health, I hope you know that very Low Vitamin B12 intake can cause anaemia and nervous system damage. The only reliable animal-free sources of B12 are foods fortified with B12 and B12 supplements. Vitamin B12, whether in supplements, fortified foods, or animal products, comes through micro-organisms. Achieving an adequate B12 intake is easily achieved through taking one B12 supplement a day providing at least 10 micrograms. Vegans need to take B12 via fortified foods and/ or supplements. Designed specifically for Vegans, but suitable for everyone, this supplement provides EU recommended daily allowances (RDA’s) of: Vitamin B2 (1.6mg – 114%); Vitamin B6 (2mg – 143%); Vitamin B12 (10µg – 400%); Vitamin D (10µg – 200%); Folic Acid (200µg – 100%); Iodine (150µg – 100%); Selenium (60µg – 109%).

This supplement comes in tubs of 90 or 180 tablets which is a THREE or SIX month supply for adults.

Directions: One tablet per day for adults. Half a tablet per day for children aged 2-12. Always chew or crush tablets for maximum absorption. Do not exceed recommended intake.

Yoga classes for kids, starting in September

kids yogaDear parents, the yoga studio where I teach regularly, is now taking registrations for children’s yoga for the new semester: Kids Yoga (weekly classes). The next Children’s Yoga semester starts on 19/20 September.

Places available in all groups.

Saturdays
10:00 – 11:00 (Kinderyoga 4-7 jaar) NEDERLANDS
11:30 – 12:30 (Yoga pour Enfants 4-7 ans) FRANÇAIS
13:00 – 14:00 (Yoga pour Enfants 8-11 ans) FRANÇAIS

Sundays
11:00 – 12:00 (Yoga pour Enfants 4-7 ans) FRANÇAIS

Price130 euro/semester (September-January, 15 classes) –  240 euro/year (September-June, 30 classes)

There are parallel yoga lessons for adults.  Adults can attend on a drop-in basis (15 euro/class), use their regular Sampoorna Yoga Studio class pass, or take an Accompanying Adult subscription  valid for yoga classes at the same time with Children’s Yoga (130 euro/semester or 240 euro/year).
