Summer 2016 yoga class schedule

TTC 2012 Canada (218)This Summer I’ll be travelling to Canada for a Teacher’s Training Course refresher at the Sivananda ashram near Montreal, learn more about the TTC and the TTC refresher (for yoga teachers). I’m extremely lucky to train with the wonderful Swami Sivadasananda as well as with Prahlada, a long time disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda, both are Yoga Acharya.

Meanwhile, in Brussels during the month of July I’ll be teaching some classes, check out my schedule:

Register for special workshops at the Brussels Yoga Day

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 20.17.51This coming Sunday, 19 June 2016, there’s the Brussels Yoga Day in the Bois de la Cambre. There’ll be a huge main yoga session and afterwards you can explore special workshops with different teachers from Brussels.

The workshops are complimentary for those that have ordered a goodie bag (5€).

Limited spaces available, hence register quickly for one of the 4 themed yoga workshops after the main session: yoga for seniors; yoga & stress; yoga for the back; prenatal yoga.

A workshops starts at 12:30 and a 2nd session at 13:30. They’ll each last 45 minutes. Please bring your yoga mat and comfortable clothes.

Quick pasta dish with leek, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and garlic Ⓥ

So one night I got home late & was hungry but hadn’t done groceries that day. Luckily I still had some fresh vegetables in my fridge and made up this quick dish. It’s great warm for dinner, but equally yummy as a (cold) lunch.

  • Pasta (for 4 people), I used 300g whole wheat penne.
  • 1 leek (medium)
  • 10 mushrooms (medium)
  • 10-15 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 garlic clove (or 1 tsp asafetida powder)
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves
  • Good quality olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper

Preparation

  1. Boil water for pasta.
  2. Wash and cut the vegetables (leek: sliced; tomatoes: halves; mushrooms: quarts).
  3. Slice and dice the garlic clove.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet or wok and add leek, fry for 2 minutes, add mushrooms, fry until golden. Add garlic, stir for about 2 minutes. Add cherry tomatoes and let simmer.
  5. Add pasta to boiling water and cook according to instructions on packaging.
  6. Before draining the cooking water of the pasta, take out a small amount in a cup and set aside.
  7. Drain the pasta & splash with cold water.
  8. Add the pasta to the vegetables, add olive oil, salt, pepper & fresh basil and stir well.
  9. Add a bit of the cooking liquid if the mixture is too dry.
  10. Serve with a side salad (in picture: lettuce, tomato, nutritional yeast, roasted pumpkin & sunflower seeds with ume su vinegar) with a mustard dressing.

TIP: You can also add fresh spinach or endives or whatever you have in your fridge at that moment and you feel like adding. The tomatoes and cooking liquid give you a simply but deliciously light sauce.

3rd Brussels Yoga Day on 19 June 2016

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 20.17.51On Tuesday 21 June yogis worldwide will celebrate the annual international yoga day, as so proclaimed by the United Nations in 2014.

In Brussels we organise the Brussels Yoga Day on Sunday 19 June with a huge yoga class in the Bois de la Cambre/ Terkamerenbos.

In order for this yoga day to run as smooth as possible, we are currently looking for the following volunteers:

  1. Certified yoga teachers that would like to participate to the main yoga session to provide adjustment support to the participants ensuring they have a safe and enjoyable experience of yoga. If you are interested to be a volunteer teacher please let Devananda know and he will provide more details.
  2. Certified yoga teachers that are willing to offer a free workshop AFTER the main session can fill out this Google Form before 14 June 2016.
    We are looking to organize the following sessions (2 of each and 1 back up teacher) at 12:30 & at 13:30.

    1. Prenatal yoga
    2. Kids yoga
    3. Senior yoga
    4. Yoga for the back
    5. Yoga & stress
  • For everyone, registration to the event is obligatory & available online.
