Sampoorna Yoga Studio organises Sunday Special classes, on the first Sunday of each month: these are long hatha yoga classes focusing on a specific theme.
You’ll do exercises that prepare and strengthen the areas required for headstand, and practice the full posture step by step, learning to do it safely and correctly.
This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners.
I’m very lucky as will be able to go to the Sivananda ashram in Orléans next weekend. This is also where my Sivananda journey started some 6 years ago. I’m treating myself to a long weekend reconnection time with myself, yoga classes, fabulous vegan food, nature, satsangs and lectures by swamis.
Did you know you can also give yourself this gift?
Any time you want, you can go to an ashram near you. The Sivananda organisation has founded 9 Sivananda Ashrams around the world – in Canada, India, France, Austria, Bahamas, and the United States where you can enjoy yoga holidays (short or longer time), do your TTC, ATTC, or themed (certification) courses, as well as become a Karma Yogi.
A yoga vacation consists of more or less the same schedule as the TTC, albeit less intense: morning satsang; morning yoga (asana) class; breakfast; karma yoga; lecture; free time; afternoon yoga class; dinner; evening satsang. It’s a wonderful way to reconnect to yourself, to relax and stay healthy.
Kick-start your practice and discover yoga beyond physical postures!
We’ll go through a basic hatha yoga class in slow motion learning the details of each pose to practice yoga correctly and safely. We also explore some basic breathing exercises (pranayama) and get an introduction to the principles and philosophy of yoga.
No previous yoga experience required. This workshop is for everyone regardless of your level of fitness, weight, health, age etc.
Where: Sampoorna Yoga Studio, rue du Houblon/ Hopstraat 40, 1000 Brussels
When: Saturday 20 May at 14:00-17:00 Price: 45€ (students/unemployed 35€) Teachers: Hanna & Devananda
Since 2010, a bunch of very motivated yogins in Brussels organize the Yoga Mala around the Summer Solstice. All participants donate some money and all the proceeds go to a charity. Why 108 ? Good question, Shiva Rea has written a beautiful article about it, read it here.
So please join us on Sunday morning, 4 June 2017, as the Yoga community comes together for the eighth time in a celebration of the unity of Yoga to raise money for charity (cause still to be decided).
As we welcome the Summer Solstice let us offer our gratitude to life by saluting and honouring the Sun. We will practice a Yoga Mala, a prayer in motion of 108 rounds of Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutations).
The practice will be a meditative flow, and whether we as individuals are able to do 1 or 108 rounds, the importance lies in our participation and intention – as a collective we will complete the Mala. There will be different teachers leading the rounds of Surya Namaskar, the practice is the Sivananda Hatha Yoga tradition.
Being there together in a spirit of loving-kindness, peace and joy is what it’s all about. And who knows what wonders will come from that…
The event is family-friendly, so children, partners and grandparents are warmly welcome. There will be Yoga for kids in parallel with the Mala, and other fun activities. Tea and biscuits for after!
You can also make a difference, so come and make it happen together with the Brussels’ yoga community.
