Fancy taking your yoga TTC this Summer?

TTC 2012 Canada (235)Are you ready to take your yoga practice to a deeper, more meaningful level or teach others about the wonderful benefits of classical yoga?

The Sivananda Teacher’s Training Course (TTC) is available in many different countries around the world, and in a variety of languages throughout the year.

The TTC began over 40 years ago, is recognized worldwide and has produced more than 26,000 graduates. Swami Vishnudevananda was the first in the West to develop this kind of training program for yoga teachers with the vision to not only develop successful yoga professionals, but also to spread peace in the world through them. The TTC is a unique, profoundly transforming and personal experience that is based on the ancient gurukula teaching system which integrates the student’s daily life into the yoga training. For four intense weeks of ashram living, students strengthen their own yoga practice through self-discipline and awareness of the nature of mind, body and spirit. They also build a firm foundation from which to teach others instinctively and confidently.

The TTC provides a fantastic opportunity to awaken or deepen your yoga practice, meet old and new friends, and to be a part of the global yoga community which is growing each day. The best part of all is learning that everything we need is already within us and how the practices can lead us into accessing our gifts and beauty from the inside out. The experience provides a great way to find long lasting happiness, peace and the ability to share the yogic lifestyle with others.

Ambika certificate
Graduates of the course receive an internationally recognized certification. Certified by the worldwide Yoga Alliance for the 200 hours standard for Registered Yoga Schools (RYS).

For more details and practical information about the course see the TTC Curriculum.

There are a few upcoming TTC in the world this Summer (2016):

Yin Yoga foundations (30 hrs) certification

In April 2016 I’ve spent 2 weekends (and 2 Friday afternoons) with a bunch of enthusiastic yogins in Brussels studying anatomy and yin yoga postures with Joe Barnett.

20160410_184355Not only did we have a lot of fun while doing it, we’ve learned so much in little time. Joe is a very experienced and fun teacher who made the sometimes complex human body a very interesting topic to say the least. He taught us about the important differences that exist in each and everyone and that every human body is unique and to respect this uniqueness. The TTC was incredibly complimentary to the yin yoga TTC I’ve taken with Sarah Powers in 2014.

yinAll in all, I’m very grateful to have been able to study with Joe and the other yogins and look forward to share this teachings (and his teacher Paul Grilley’s teaching) with my students.

Joe Barnett, ERYT-500, has been teaching for over a decade. He travels nationally and internationally year round offering presentations and trainings on Yin and Yang (Vinyasa) forms of Yoga as well as Chakra and Meridian Meditation.

Joe’s main focus of study is Functional Anatomy for Yoga. He is a senior student and regular teaching assistant of Paul Grilley (paulgrilley.com), a true Yoga Scientist who is responsible for the current rise in the popularity of Yin Yoga. After several years of apprenticing under Paul, Joe recently began traveling nationally and internationally to train yoga teachers how to understand and feel the full range of motion of their joints and their students’ joints using Grilley’s Taoist Analysis of the Body to individualize the Postures of Yoga.

However, Joe’s play time is usually spent practicing, teaching and drawing others into AcroYoga which he has been playing since 2006 when he met Jason Magness (yogaslackers.com) with whom he continues to train/play whenever he can. In 2010, Joe traveled to Montreal to receive both levels of certification through the original AcroYogis Eugene Poku and Jessie Goldberg (acroyoga.com).

Prenatal yoga certificate obtained

In February I spent a prolonged weekend with a bunch of wonderful yoginis and Carla Anselm from Open Sky Yoga Center (USA) to learn about prenatal and postpartum yoga. We had a wonderful time, Carla is very entertaining and knowledgeable. It was an intense 3 days mini TTC.

Prenatal yoga certificate

After the training we were supposed to do quite some homework, that I did bit by bit and finally handed in last month ! And yesterday the certificate and Carla’s feedback came in the mail ! It truly made my day.

I’ve been applying the teachings to my classes which held several pregnant students and it’s simply great to be able to offer them the guidance they need in that sacred special time of their lives. I even taught a couple of online (Skype) classes to my BFF who’s living in a different country.

All in all, it’s such valuable knowledge and I’m very grateful to my wonderful teacher for her guidance. Obviously this is only the beginning and I’m striving to take many more courses and learn from my students to be able to develop myself continuously.

Yin Yoga certificate obtained

Better late than never, I’ve received my Yin Yoga certificate after completing the 80 hours Yin Yoga & Mindfulness TTC with the wonderful Sarah & Ty Powers in France in 2014. Thanks to this TTC I’ve been able to incorporate the poses and teachings in my regular yoga classes and notice that students love the deeper poses despite the obvious physical and mental blockages that sometimes hinder them with this practice. It’s about letting go and going deeper inside to release blocked energy from the meridians, organs and nadis and stretch the connective tissues.

“The Yin practice is an inward practice of receptivity that targets the regeneration of the Yin tissues through a passive static practice.”
